Manager: Young Talent Programmes

Sheila Mistry is a strategic Young Talent Programme Manager at Standard Bank South Africa, with over 23 years in learning and development, including 15 years focused on youth
employability and talent pipeline development. She specialises in influencing business leaders to view youth not as a compliance obligation but as a strategic asset for long-term growth.
In her role, she leads national programmes that connect unemployed youth to meaningful careers in sectors like banking and renewable energy, aligning workforce development with
transformation and commercial goals. Her work plays a growing role in South Africa’s just energy transition, particularly by empowering young women with future-fit skills.
Through cross-sector partnerships, strategic advocacy, and a deep understanding of future skills, she helps businesses unlock the potential of youth as active participants in sustainable
growth.

Guided by her motto, “One youth at a time,” she is passionate about breaking cycles of poverty and creating lasting impact—helping youth uplift their families, contribute to their communities,
and participate in building a more inclusive economy.
