A professionally registered Engineer with over a19 year span in the
Engineering & Services domain in Broadcasting and the Energy sector, Ms
Sandisiwe Ncemane has served in a myriad of institutions, including PetroSA,
Central Energy Fund (CEF), Coega Development Corporation, Telkom Media,
SABC, as well as chairperson of the Nuclear Industry Association of South
Africa.
Sandisiwe completed her Electrical Engineering undergraduate studies at the
University of Cape Town and holds an Msc (Eng) Engineering Management
degree from the University of Pretoria, as well as academic experience with the
Thabo Mbeki African Leadership Institute (TMALI), under the University of
South Africa, which provided a good foundation for understanding some of the
underlying issues concerning the African economy.
Sandisiwe subscribes to the view that the Courage to embrace Change brings
Growth, Transformation, and new Experiences.
Key areas of interest for Sandisiwe include the significance of innovation
systems to support agility and resiliency in the evolving services economy, as
well as the strong synergies for value creation towards regional integration
within Africa. Her current studies towards a Masters in African Energy
Leadership, at the Wits Business School, aid a favorable position a as
knowledgeable expert within the energy sector.
Access to reliable, affordable, and secure Energy is a catalyst for economic
development. A holistic approach to an inclusive and just Energy Transition
requires the seamless integration of risk and reputation management,
corporate diplomacy, governance, and international business challenges.
In 2022, Sandisiwe was seconded as the acting Chief Operating Officer (COO)
of PetroSA, and subsequently requested to act as the Group Chief Executive
Office (AGCEO) of PetroSA from April 2022. The mandate from the Board is to
turnaround PetroSA and place the company into a growth path to effectively
address the security of supply of energy in the country, while seizing the
opportunities that prevail in the Oil & Gas industry. In 2023, CEF awarded the
accolade for ‘Most Improved Subsidiary’ to PetroSA, which recorded a R1.4 bn
profit in 2022/2023.
This has afforded an opportunity for Sandisiwe to effectively operate within an
ecosystem that collaborates and cooperates with public sector organs, a range
of private sector players as well as meaningfully contribute to various industry
and specialists’ platfor
