Teslim Mohammed Yusuf

Project Manager: Energy Technical Support

Teslim Mohammed Yusuf is an energy systems integration specialist with over 17 years’ experience in energy efficiency, business & strategy development, smart grids, information systems, renewable energy, programme & project management in the implementation of applied research projects within the energy and ICT sector.

Teslim has played various executive management roles such as acting as General Manager for Energy Efficiency, and the Smart Grids & Data Management Programme at the South African National Energy Development Institute (SANEDI). Teslim is a Doctorate (PhD) candidate at the University of Pretoria – Graduate School of Technology Management (GSTM). He holds a Masters in Engineering Management from the University of Pretoria and a Bachelors in Electrical & Electronics from the University of Lagos.

Over the years, Teslim has worked in the telecommunications and data communication sector in Nigeria before migrating to South Africa in 2011. In 2019, Teslim worked with Business Sweden, tasked with technology and investments development across the Sub-Saharan African region. Teslim holds various professional memberships, namely; the South African Institute of Electrical Engineers (MSAIEE), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (MIEEE), Institute of Informational Technology Professionals South Africa (MIITPSA), Project Management Institute (PMI) as a Certified PMP and Green Building Council South Africa (MGBCSA).

Teslim is currently a Project Manager: Energy Technical Support at SANEDI responsible for leading South Africa’s participation in BRICS, G20, G7, African Union (AU) through the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy. Between 2013 and 2019, Teslim managed 10 smart grids pilot projects in support of the South African Smart Grids Vision at various municipality, covering advanced distribution management, asset management, advanced metering infrastructure and revenue enhancement. His recent career highlight was leading the development of the BRICS Energy Security and Energy Transition Skills studies on behalf of South Africa during South African BRICS Presidency in 2023.
