Mpho Mookapele, the CEO of the Energy and Water Sector Education and Training Authority (EWSETA), embodies a journey of remarkable resilience and achievement. Born in a small village in Zeerust, Mpho overcame challenging circumstances to pursue education vigorously. Supported by her family’s move to Johannesburg for better opportunities, she pursued a degree in finance and accounting, becoming a Chartered Accountant (CA).
Mpho’s dedication and hard work have earned her numerous accolades, including the overall winner of the 2019 SAICA Top-35-under-35 CA (SA) Competition and recognition as the Public Sector Leader of the Year by African Women Chartered Accountants in 2021. With over 18 years of experience in both the Private and Public Sectors, she brings a wealth of expertise to her role at EWSETA.
In addition to her professional endeavours, Mpho is passionate about mentoring aspiring entrepreneurs and advocating for women’s empowerment, serving on the African Women’s Chartered Accountants Board Committee.
