Catalina Marulanda is the Practice Manager of the Urban, Resilience and Land Unit in the Eastern and Central African Region, overseeing a portfolio of operations in DRC, Angola, Burundi, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Madagascar, Seychelles, Comoros and Mauritius. This involves working with governments and private sector on promoting initiatives that aim at making cities more functional, economically productive, environmentally sound, livable and less vulnerable, particularly for the poor, through operations that focus on: (i) financing infrastructure and providing basic services, (ii) technical assistance to strengthen policies and institutions, and (iii) analytical and policy advisory work, on areas including municipal management, urban land administration, flood management, solid waste management, housing, neighborhood upgrading, and others. Catalina has a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Lehigh University and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
