Professor Akinade Shadrach OLATUNJI holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology from the
University of Ilorin, Master of Science Degree in Mineral Exploration (Geochemistry option) and
Doctor of Philosophy in Applied Geochemistry from the University of Ibadan.
Professor Olatunji started has over two decades experience in the academia involved in geoscience
research and training. He has served as external examiner for several institutions including Olabisi
Onabanjo University, University of Ilorin; Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta,
University of Zimbabwe and University of Venda, South Africa
Professor Olatunji research interest focuses on the on the application of geochemistry and other
classical geological methods in solving mineral exploration challenges. His current research
includes REE potentials of Nigerian granitoids, shale, limestone as well as the radioactivity of
several Nigerian rocks. He has supervised over 50 M.Sc. Thesis and 13 PhDs.
Professor Olatunji is the President of the Society for Environmental Geochemistry and Health
(SEGH) and the current President of the Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society (NMGS).
He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Association of Hydrogeologists (NAH), Fellow of the International
Association of Hydrogeologists (IAH), Fellow of the Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society
(NMGS). He is a registered Geoscientist by the Council of Mining Engineers and Geoscientists.
He is a member of the European Association of Geochemists, International of Hydrogeologists,
Geological Society of Africa (GSAf) and Geological Society of America.
He currently has eighty published journal articles in reputable journals and several unpublished
technical papers to his credit.
