Executive Director

Tarisai Mchuchu-MacMillan is a seasoned Advocate and leading expert in crime and violence prevention, with a career defined by her unwavering commitment to female empowerment and systemic change. As the Executive Director of MOSAIC Training Services and Healing Centre, she leads one of South Africa’s 30 year old non-profit organisations focused on preventing and reducing gender-based violence, particularly domestic and intimate partner violence.

Tarisai brings over a decade of high-impact leadership in the NGO sector, underpinned by strong academic foundations with a BA and LLB from the University of Cape Town and her registration as an Advocate of the High Court of South Africa. Her experience spans both local and international human rights and social justice organisations, including Fight for Peace International, RAPCAN (Resources Aimed at the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect), and Young in Prison South Africa, where she served as Director for seven years.

At MOSAIC, she is the visionary behind SAFE Platforms, a groundbreaking initiative designed to enhance South Africa’s protection order system, by convening stakeholders to co-create a vsurvivor-centred and trauma-informed, coordinated response to domestic violence, SAFE exemplifies her approach: legally sound, community-anchored, and impact-driven.

Tarisai’s leadership is marked by strategic clarity, relentless advocacy, and an unshakeable belief in the power of collective impact to drive real and lasting change. Her work places her at the critical intersection of law, gender justice, and social transformation where she continues to shape a safer, more equitable South Africa for all women and girls.
