This legend was born from our shared experiences in the Trust Masterclass facilitated by The Global Trust Project.
What began as a collective reflection of our values and aspirations as a team grew into a fantastical mythical story which we are proud to share with the world.
In crafting this story, we were profoundly influenced by the foundational role myths and legends play in cultures, particularly in Africa. The magical stories of Chinua Achebe, Zakes Mda and Isabel Allende provided plenty of inspiration as we created our own.
As you'll read, Vuvu's adventures are the guiding values of our excellence: trust, responsible influence and shared long-term success. What begins as a myth becomes our living story that we embrace every day at the VUKA Group.
Without trust, no relationship, endeavour, or impact can be sustainable. These are the bedrock principles of our purpose, and how we connect people and information to each other.
We listen, understand, relate and create. We collaborate with boldness and care - allowing the best solutions to emerge from diverse perspectives.
This culture is alive in everything we do. Our commitment to human connection, creativity, and collaboration drives the results we are proud of across the continent.
We believe that the best solutions emerge from diverse perspectives, which is why we prioritise understanding our clients’ unique needs and working together to achieve exceptional outcomes.
Our dedication to sustainability and wellbeing reflects the same values that inspire us to positively impact our communities and teams.
Our success is intertwined with the success of those we serve, and this ethos guides our every action. It is the foundation upon which we build trust-based influence and purpose-driven leadership.
As we take Africa to the world, we carry this legacy forward, helping to create a brighter, more connected, and sustainable future for all.

Born to a modest family of storytellers and healers, Vuvu grew up to be deeply connected to his community’s roots. He was a remarkable child, who from an early age displayed an innate sense of empathy, fairness and care for others. Vuvu would always be the first to stand up to injustice, and offer himself to mediate conflicts between villagers. His wisdom and compassion were beyond his years, and his trust stone shone brighter than any other in the village.

One day, Vuvu noticed that his stone began to glow unusually. It cast bright colours of yellow, blue and white all over his room. He had never seen this combination of colours before from any Trust stone, let alone his.
Just then, his father returned home from a council meeting with the elders, visibly upset.

Vuvu emerged from his room, and upon seeing the spectacle of light, Vuvu’s mother rejoiced.

'It means you are destined to rise and connect our people. You must take this stone to the Grove of Unity. It is your calling Vuvu.' his mother added, proudly beaming at her son.
Upon seeing the magnificent colours glowing from his son’s Trust stone, Vuvu’s father lost his glum mood immediately.

Vuvu felt his strong sense of purpose come alive from within. Something inside of him had been awakened. He asked his closest friends to accompany him on the journey.
There was Blue Sky Bindi, who could communicate with the land and bring sustainable harmony between humans and nature.
There was also Kofi, a talented craftsman who inspired creativity, friendship and collaboration.
And there was Jabari, an elder sage whose experience brought wisdom, clarity and resolve.
The four intrepid explorers set off at dawn. They had never visited the Grove of Unity, but they trusted Vuvu and his determination.

After two days of trekking through the vast savannah, the explorers had reached the Grove of Unity. Upon reaching the trees, Vuvu noticed his trust stone glowing more brilliantly than before.

One by one, his friends also could feel their own trust stones beaming with their own wondrous colours. Following Vuvu, each removed their stone from their pouch and laid them carefully in the grass, lightly touching.
Together, the light from the four stones began to flash and dance. Within minutes, flickers of blue, white and yellow light beamed all around the grove. There was a bright flash, and in an instant, peace fell back upon the grove.
Vuvu and his friends were still dazzled by the incredible visions they had just witnessed, looking at each other and the darkening sky in disbelief. The trees stood in silence.
Jabari glanced back at the stones, which were still lying in their original position. He walked over carefully and kneeled down before them.

The group of friends examined their stones. On the backside of each, there was a simple message, as if someone had magically carved letters into the hard rock.
One by one, they read out what the Stones said:

As many had foreseen years earlier, Vuvu eventually became the leader of his community. He established a new council where all villagers were empowered with a voice in decisions. His old friends who accompanied on the journey to the Grove of Unity were also part of the council, offering him advice on important matters.
Through their example, each villager, from the crop farmers to the school teachers, recognised their own duty to rise up and contribute to the future they wanted to create.
Instead of discord and disempowerment, there was welfare, trust and harmony. The village grew in both size and prosperity.

When he was an old man, Vuvu sensed that his time would soon come. A new leader would need to step in to continue in his place, but the entire council was reluctant to discuss the issue. Since Vuvu’s experience at the Grove of Unity, no other villager had any similar experiences of being annointed in such a way.
Many believed that the prophecy had now been fulfilled, and the future was now uncertain.
Vuvu smiled softly. Although his face had grown old, his eyes flashed with the same sense of wonder when he was a boy.

Vuvu decided to begin writing about his experiences, insights and the transformative power of trust and influence to transform and improve relationships for the greater good. As Vuvu penned his reflections, his thoughts often returned to that day at the Grove of Unity.
