Head of Marketing: Power & Energy

An opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and highly motivated marketing professional to join VUKA Group’s Power & Energy marketing team. This role would suit a strategic individual passionate about developing strong brands, delivering exceptional customer experiences and helping the portfolio to achieve its ambitious growth plans.

Reporting into the Group Director, the Head of Marketing will define and oversee the division’s marketing strategy in line with commercial objectives. You will lead and create powerful brands, implement engaging communications strategies and craft compelling customer journeys for our audience which deliver qualified leads for the sales team.

You will be a Brand Strategist of all products of the Energy portfolio. Responsible for identity, messaging, campaign strategies to communicate with identified community groups. Creator of campaigns to position products with the intention to connect people and organisations to information and each other, in curated digital and in-person environments. A market facing connector of brands to stakeholders with an objective to build an enriched market-leading database of energy professionals engaged on the African continent.  A strong emphasis on creation of new and innovative ways to connect with the industry, promote trust and scale our activities with an external networking and promotion a focus.

Working closely with marketing operations department.  Marketing activities are executed through a marketing operations team which delivers marketing related tasks against a task brief. The marketing operations team operate in an agency model with campaign creation from the brand strategist.

The Candidate:

Supported by the Group Director, you will be responsible for developing the marketing strategies for events and projects within the portfolio as the company moves to a new phase of digital growth. Working with the marketing team, you will deliver cross-channel marketing strategies to increase brand awareness, generate leads and improve customer retention.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and deliver the marketing strategy in line with business objectives
  • Lead, develop and manage a marketing team in the day-to-day running of the department
  • Create strong, competitive brands and oversee positioning across all platforms
  • Develop and oversee communication strategies across all channels
  • Oversee the structure, implementation & optimization of sales data plans
  • Use marketing automation technology to craft exceptional customer journeys and qualify leads
  • Identify new business opportunities using market research and customer feedback
  • Manage marketing budgets for events and projects within the portfolio
  • Develop innovative, revenue-generating ideas for events and projects in the portfolio
  • Produce marketing reports and metrics to benchmark performance on an ongoing basis
  • Continuously review changes to the market, customer trends and the activities of competitors, adjusting the marketing plan if necessary
  • Build relationships with key strategic partners and associations
  • Promote a culture of testing and change to continuously drive improvement

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Relevant Marketing Qualification
  • 3+ years’ experience in similar role
  • Residing in Cape Town (Relocation is not an option)
  • Strong leadership skills and management of teams
  • Solid understanding of the digital media landscape
  • Experience integrating industry leading marketing technology tools like Hubspot, chatbots, landing page software etc
  • Proven ability to learn new tools and software quickly and independently
  • Excellent knowledge of best practice across email, social media, paid media, landing pages, websites and chatbots
  • In depth knowledge of marketing performance metrics
  • Excellent ability to strategically interpret data trends and gaps, providing analysis and recommendations
  • Deep knowledge in customer segmentation, data and list management and deliverability
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders and team members across the business
  • Strong understanding of content marketing strategies and techniques
  • Excellent knowledge of marketing automation technology (Hubspot highly desirable)
  • Strong experience in areas including insight development and audience segmentation
  • Experience in benchmarking and metrics including acquisition rates, conversion rates, database growth, lead nurture, engagement, MQL/SQL
